To Kinloch Rannoch. (B8079, B8019, B846).
Highlights - Pass of Killiecrankie and Visitors Centre, Soldiers
Leap, excellent views from Garry Bridge, and Queens View overlooking
Loch Tummel.
On getting to Rannoch (or from Tummel Bridge) head south on
unmarked road from Rannoch. This joins Wades Road (B846) from
Tummel Bridge and takes you past Glengoulandie Deer Park towards
Aberfeldy. At Keltney Burn head west to Fortingall - Church
and 3,000 year old Yew. Next right turn down Glen Lyon, to
Bridge of Balgie, turn left over towards Loch Tay. If time
allows it is worth driving to the top of Glen Lyon. Visit
the Ben Lawers Visitors Centre (and climb the Ben) in the
passing.
NOTE the roads from Keltney Burn to Loch Tay are all single
track, in some cases with limited passing places.
West Coast Trip.
Fort William and Oban. (approx 176 miles.)
To Fort William (A85 and A82)
Highlights - Rannoch Moor, Meall a Bhuiridh and White Corries,
Glen Etive, Devils Staircase, Glencoe and the Visitors Centre,
and the Glencoe and North Lorn Museum.
In or around Fort William - Ben Nevis, Glen Nevis, Aonach
Mhor Gondola Chairlift and Neptunes Staircase on the Caledonian
Canal. Road to the Isles, very scenic route to Mallaig. (Also

and the island of Lismore.

fairly long diversion) Cruachan Power Station Visitors Centre,
and Kilchurn Castle. (A worthwhile alternative is to drive
up Glen Orchy.)
Loch Fyne and The West Coast.
Loch Lomond, Inverary, Lochgilphead and Oban. (approx 170
miles)
To Inverary. (A85, A82 and A83.)
Highlights - Top of Loch Lomond, Glen Croe, the Rest-and-be-thankful,
Strone Gardens, Loch Fyne Oyster Bar (Superb).

To Lochgilphead. (A83)
Highlights - Argyll Wildflife Park, Auchindrain Folk Museum,

To Oban. (A816)
Highlights - Divert Westwards (B841) along Crinan Canal to
Crinan itself. Knapdale Forest Walks to the South, and attractive
drive down Loch Sween. Back on A816 - Nether Largie Cairns
and the Kilmartin Stones (Good Pub in Kilmartin). IF you want
to return to Loch Earn without going to Oban take the B840
just after Kilmartin along Loch Awe. Otherwise Highlights
continued - Carnassarie Castle, Arduaine Gardens, and Island
of Seil with the Clachan Bridge (only bridge over the Atlantic.),
An Cala Gardens.
