Scottish Game Fair
July is a popular month for visitors to Perthshire, with the warm summer weather ideal to explore the local area and events.
One of the most popular of these is the Scottish Game Fair, held in the grounds of Scone Palace. It is held in the first week of July and the Four Seasons Hotel is conveniently located a quick drive away, with a range of accommodation to suit any budget.
The Fair is designed to provide an enjoyable family day out while educating attendees about game and wildlife in Scotland, particularly the work of The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT). The annual event in Perthshire has a lively and friendly atmosphere, where you can try your hand at archery, clay pigeon shooting, fly casting and other country pursuits. There’s also a bouncy castle for the kids, a 4×4 circuit, a Tug o’ War and many more activities spread across the three days.
If you’re more inclined to relax and enjoy the festivities, the Scottish Game Fair hosts sheep and terrier shows in addition to the customary pipe bands and dancing displays. Grab a bargain at one of the 300 trade stands selling everything a budding gamekeeper, fisherman or conservationist could need, as well as everything from leather clothing to real ale. Don’t forget to try the many local delicacies available in the Food Hall, from wild board to handmade chocolates!
